Amidst the relentless cadence of offerings across the premium cigar landscape, true distinction remains an elusive art. It requires an alignment of timeless character, storied heritage, and exacting craftsmanship to command attention.
On Saturday, 24 October, that rare alchemy took form in the heart of Madrid as Habanos, S.A., together with Club Pasión Habanos, presented the world premiere of the Quai D’Orsay Concordia Edición Limitada 2026.
The historic Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas was transformed for La Nuit D’Orsay, welcoming more than 400 international guests into an atmosphere suspended between Parisian Belle Époque grandeur and modern sensory indulgence.
More than a celebratory gala, the evening stood as an intimate reverence for enduring heritage—an unveiling where French art de vivre met the soulful mastery of Cuban tobacco.
The Confluence of Two Worlds: The Birth of Concordia
Conceived in 1974 at the personal initiative of Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, then French Minister of Finance, Quai D’Orsay was created to serve as an ambassador of French taste—a diplomatic expression of luxury crafted in Cuba to complement the nation's most discerning exports.
Named in honour of the iconic Place de la Concorde in Paris, the Concordia honours this fifty-year lineage, bridging two cultures through shared elegance and poise.
Marking only the second Edición Limitada in the maison’s history—following the acclaimed Senadores in 2019—Concordia introduces the brand to the Preciosos factory format (vitola de galera), measuring a commanding 145 mm in length with a 50 ring gauge.
The vitola presents an entirely new architectural silhouette for the Quai D’Orsay portfolio, offering a contemporary presence grounded in classical proportions.
The Art of Patience: An Exceptional Expression
True to the rigorous ethos of Habanos Edición Limitada releases, the Concordia is fashioned Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga (Totally Handmade with Long Filler), using meticulously selected leaves from the revered Vuelta Abajo zone in Pinar del Río, Cuba.
Every leaf of the wrapper, binder, and filler has undergone a patient ageing process of no less than two years.
The wrapper leaf, subjected to an extended fermentation, reveals a profound, darker hue and a remarkably oily patina.
This richer visual character departs subtly from the historic lighter tones of the brand, reflecting an added layer of depth and maturity while preserving Quai D’Orsay’s balanced, medium-strength profile.
La Nuit D’Orsay: Belle Époque Reimagined
The world premiere in Madrid honoured the sensory nature of the release through a curated progression of French gastronomy and Iberian excellence.
Beneath the arches of Las Ventas, guests were welcomed with an exquisite selection of EPC Champagne, Antonius caviar and jamón ibérico from Casa 959, alongside an extensive variety of canapés.
The French gastronomic dinner that followed transitioned into bespoke pairings with rare spirits, spotlighting The Dalmore single malts and Havana Club Unión.
The soundtrack to the evening traced the emotional lineage of the house. Jazz melodies from Madrid’s legendary Pianobar set an understated rhythm before singer Soraya Arnelas bridged the centuries—opening with the poetic nostalgia of La Vie en Rose and Fumando Espero, followed by an orchestral journey through the definitive anthems of 1974 and the decades that followed.
